BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

October is Cancer Awareness Month. Studies show that 1 in 8 ladies have a chance of breast cancer. Nowadays, it is a good fact that there is awareness about the disease unlike in earlier days.

Like any other illness, early detection helps start the treatment quickly. Now we know that Cancer is as common as the flu. Although it is difficult to accept, it can happen to anyone. I have lost my close relatives to cancer and it is of course heart-wrenching to see the pain. Prevention is always better than the cure. Since we have methods to detect breast cancer now, it can be done.

In many countries, they are conducting free screening camps, mammograms etc. Don't miss the chance if you have the opportunity.

Self examination of the breasts can also be done

Symptoms -

If you feel you have any of these symptoms do go to a physician at the earliest.

Treatment-

Let's see the risk factors for breast cancer

There are a lot of campaigns and support groups, hair donations, funds etc for Cancer patients,if possible be a part of them.

Emotional support is very important for the patients as they go through these tough times.

I had a chance to attend a campaign for cancer awareness and I realised that we ladies are so ignorant of our health. We owe it to ourselves and our families to be healthy.

Developing a healthy lifestyle is very important.Although there is no guarantee that we won't be victims at least we can take preventive measures.

Living in UAE,there are a lot of free screening , mammograms etc done.Schools are also teaching children about the importance of supporting the cancer patients, have hair donation camps etc.Kudos to the UAE government for these measures.
