Life of Muhammad(SAW)
Choosing a profession-
Nabi (PBUH) had lost his parents and his grandfather at an early age and he was under the care of his Uncle Abu Talib. He did not have any inheritance. First he worked as a sheperd.
He was noted for his trustworthiness, honesty and piety, he came to be called "Al Ameen".
Journey to Syria-
Muhammad(PBUH) trustworthiness and reputation led Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid to entrust him with her merchandise to sell in Syria. As she was a wealthy businesswoman from a noble family of the Quraysh, she would hire men to conduct business on her behalf. Muhammed(PBUH) journeyed to Syria with her slave Maysarah. The trip was extremely successful and profitable, and upon his return to Makkah, Muhammad (PBUH) gave Khadijah(Ra) her profit.
Marriage to Khadijah-
Khadijah(Ra) was twice widowed.She had a son. Now being impressed by Maysarah s description of Muhammad(SAW) she send a proposal to him (SAW) through her friend, Nafeesa.
Muhammad(SAW) consulted his uncles and their marriage was fixed. Muhammad(SAW) gave 20 camels as dowry. Praising and glorifying Allah,Abu Talib recited the wedding sermon and formalized the union.He was 25 and she was 28 or 40.
Khadijah(Ra) was Muhammad(SAW) s first wife.He did not marry anyone else during her lifetime.She bore all his children except Ibraheem ,who was born to Mariya Qibtiya.
His children were Qasim,Zaynab,Ruqayyah,Umm Kulthoom,Fatimah,Abdullah and Ibraheem.His sons passed away during childhood,but all the daughters lived to see their father becoming a Prophet.Each daughter embraced Islam and migrated to Madinah.
Prelude to Prophethood-
When Muhammad(SAW) reached 40 years he started experiencing portents of prophethood.He would have visions and whatever appeared in his visions and dreams would come true.
